Paint & Create Together Rediscover the Beauty of Orthodox Tradition.
A meaningful activity for all generations.
Discover the CollectionThe difficulties of life are many and often come unexpectedly. At times, you may feel pressed from all sides. Yet do not lose heart. Nothing happens outside the knowledge and loving care of God.
Trials, however challenging they may be, can become occasions for spiritual growth and inner healing when they are entrusted to God. Therefore, place yourself into His hands with trust, gentleness, and gratitude.
Be attentive so that anger, bitterness, or hostility do not take root in your heart. Allow God to work quietly within you, removing whatever burdens your soul and disturbs your inner peace. Just as a garment is patiently cleansed and cared for so that it may shine again, so the human soul, through struggle and divine grace, is prepared for life in communion with God.
This is a spiritual truth. Pray that the Lord may enlighten your mind to perceive it. Then even what is unpleasant can be received as healing guidance from the heavenly Physician. You will learn to recognize, behind every difficulty, the loving hand of the One who desires your salvation.
For everything say: “Glory to You, O Lord.”
Not only with your lips, but from your heart.
Some simple spiritual attitudes may help you:
Remain watchful, knowing that difficulties are part of human life.
When something troubles you, turn your attention inward and, with prayer and calmness, strive not to be overtaken by distressing emotions.
If inner unrest arises, refrain from speaking or acting impulsively. Allow peace to return.
And if you must speak or act, do so with meekness, respect, and reverence for God.
Do not expect a life free of trials. Prepare yourself to face them with patience and trust in God. In this way, patience will take root within your heart.
Toward those who treat you unjustly, respond with love and forgiveness. Through your words, your conduct, and even your gaze, show that love is not overcome by evil. And do not keep a record of the wrongs done to you.

Dr. Petre Maican, Orthodox theologian, PhD, and author based in Brussels, is devoted to bridging theology and disability. His work confronts a pressing question: how can Orthodox communities truly welcome people with disabilities, autism, mental illness, and neurodiversity?
This mission is sustained through his Patreon, where supporters receive monthly theological reflections, ministry updates, extended essays, and early access to resources—all while joining a community committed to building a more welcoming Church.
Dr. Maican’s goal is to reach 50 patrons, enabling him to dedicate himself fully to this work.
