From the Pitch to the Kingdom: A World Cup Legend Finds His Home in Orthodoxy

With the 2026 World Cup in full swing, football is the topic of the moment in Rotterdam. But one story connected to this World Cup summer has little to do with the score line and everything to do with faith. Desmond Armstrong, a legend of American soccer, was baptised into the Orthodox Church this past March, along with

Elijah: The Prophet Who Never Got an Ending

On July 20, the Church keeps the feast of the Holy Prophet Elijah — one of the oldest and best-loved commemorations of the summer calendar. Most of what gets said on this day retells the same three scenes: the drought he pronounces on Ahab, the fire that falls on Mount Carmel, the chariot that carries him off the earth. It’s

Orthodox Disability Theology for Christian Communities

Dr. Petre Maican, Orthodox theologian, PhD, and author based in Brussels, is devoted to bridging theology and disability. His work confronts a pressing question: how can Orthodox communities truly welcome people with disabilities, autism, mental illness, and neurodiversity?

This mission is sustained through his Patreon, where supporters receive monthly theological reflections, ministry updates, extended essays, and early access to resources—all while joining a community committed to building a more welcoming Church.

Dr. Maican’s goal is to reach 50 patrons, enabling him to dedicate himself fully to this work.
